Govinda's Vegetarian Restaruant
Govinda's is a Philadelphia vegetarian/vegan eatery. It's located on 1408 South Street, which is South and Broad. All of the food here is vegetarian and most if not all can be made into vegan. I'd say they are most known for their chicken cheese steaks. While a little on the pricier side, the food there is phenomenal and really fills you up. I had gotten the chicken cheese steak with vegan cheese. It was definitely some of the best substitute I have ever had. It tasted almost like a legitimate chicken cheese steak. My friend got the vegetarian ham sandwich, and even though he was not a vegetarian, he said it tasted very good. If you have a little extra money around South Street and are hungry, give Govinda's a go.

Concrete Sox - Your Turn Next
Concrete Sox is a band from the UK from the '84 era. They can really be only described as hardcore punk with a UK82 feel. Originally formed from members of Chaos UK and Heresy, Concrete Sox have a fast raw and gritty sound. Vocals tend to be less screamed and more yelled, if that makes sense. Guitars are fast, somewhat thrashy, and mixing sounds like most other punk bands of the time. Some songs have some pretty unique intros and this is definitely an easy band to pick out. Standout songs are Intelligible Quest and Civilized.

Bread And Water - S/T
Bread And Water jams out from Dallas, Texas. Bread And Water uses male/female dual vocals, which is nice because both voices are very unique sounds. Female vocals shy away from Nausea/antischism sounds and are lower in pitch. Chords are fast and use some non-traditional punk chords, creating a heavier sound, which goes well. Drums are good, bass is good. Topics differ slightly from other punk bands too, from questioning why nudity is insulting to bad labor conditions and protesting drug war. This album seems to be more melodic than their other albums, but their other tunes are more towards traditional hardcore punk. Good band to check out.

Bumbklaatt - Corrosion 7"
Bumbklaatt is an international band comprised of members from Tijuana, Mexico and San Diego, California. Starting in 2000, the band started as a side project, but then became a major focus and they have been playing music reminiscent of D-beat and Crust alike. This album in particular is a fine example. Dual vocal of low and mid end over blasting bass and speedy guitar riffs. All the songs parts flow perfectly together, and with it is a hardcore punk band, it throws in some rock n' roll elements as well. They have recently come out with a full length that I am strongly looking forward to hearing.

Skitkids - Besoket Vid Krubban
Skitkids is a rock n' roll dbeat hardcore band from Sweden. If I had to describe their sound, they use raw fast guitars with fast rock n' roll elements and solos thrown in. Vocals are loud, speedy, and a little on the higher end. The band itself sounds tight, getting stops and starts in what seems like perfect unison. They hit all the marks they seem to aim for and show no sign of stopping. Standout songs are Weekday Suger Rov and Javla Pajas. Dbeat RnR forever.

Di Nigunim - Balagan
Di Nigunim is from San Diego California and is considered a "anarcho-klezmer punk collective". I had never heard of them until today actually and I downloaded their album and immediately wanted to start moving. They are an amazing gypsy punk band that takes advantage of a huge array of instruments and sound' complete with accordions, trumpets, violins, piano, and a myriad of other instruments. As a collective band, many of the vocals are group vocals and maintain a feel of unity and general fun. Only other band I could really compare it to would be Blackbird Raum (which they toured with). Definitely worth a good listen, and good luck trying to stay still.

Aesop Rock - Labor Days
Aesop Rock is a hip hop artist from New York. Generally darker type of hip hop and certainly not the crap you hear on the radio. Labor Days is a great album with some fantastic beats and even better rhymes and lyrics. Aesop's style is very complex and uses a lot of metaphors and personification. Many of his rhymes are subjective and open to interpretation, but he definitely isn't just babbling on. The album seems to be most about hardships of life and the day to day struggle to keep living. Standout songs are "Daylight", "No Regrets" and "Labor".

Crow - Bloody Tear
Crow is a D-Beat band from Tokyo Japan. Their style has changed pretty vastly from their earlier days of raw dbeat punk to the more metal dbeat sound they have today. This particular record is one of their newer ones, which consists of deep heavy guitar riffs, speedy solos that make your ears bleed, and a dark heavy feel. Crow also has Ironfist, the drummer of the legendary now defunct band G.I.S.M. Standout tracks are "Anarchy, Chaos, Destruction", "Give up all hope" and "God of Chaos - Death of Nuclear Arms". Amazing album through and through.

Chronicle A/D - Bloodsport War 7"
Chronicle A/D is from Savannah, Georgia and made up of ex-members of Antischism and Karst. They've been around since 2004 and all I can say about this band is good things. The singing is reminiscent of Antischism for obvious reasons. The drumming is fast, the guitars are loud, and the band has a powerful dark sound. The best song on the record and one my favorite songs in general would be Web of War (pt.2), which is a part two the the original Web of War off of Antischism's Still Life LP. With only two 7" out right now, this band is definitely one to watch for in the future.

Born/Dead - Our Darkest Fears Now Haunt Us...
Born/Dead is from Oakland, California. They are a hardcore punk band, with similar sounds to Behind Enemy Lines and Aus Rotten. Songs are fast, loud and aggressive. Lyrics are heavily political. Just fast, hard punk with some nice melodic parts thrown in. The band sounds tight, with stops and starts all starting on the exact secend they are supposed to. Standouts are Perspectives of Lies That Blind and Fantasies of Success. Great band, so check it out.
